Joined a team of 4 engineers at an early-stage startup. Served as technical lead on high-priority projects for a Django web app serving as a back-office suite for energy brokers:• Helped secure new sales with prospects wanting to have control over their data by developing a user-customizable data escrow feature that allowed clients to retain data exports on their cloud storage service of choice. Initially built using Python and Dropbox's API.• Improved report accuracy, render times, testability, and maintainability by designing and implementing a new framework using Python, Django, and PostgreSQL.• Built a client-requested feature for dynamic configurations of complex cash revenue schedules per contract and integrated with our payments system to compare expected with received amounts.• Reduced 40-minute CI build time by 50% by refactoring and optimizing test suite.• Upgraded Linux server infrastructure, including Python, Django, and Ubuntu upgrades.Proposed/implemented engineering best practices and agile processes to improve engineering culture and company productivity:• Improved team efficiency by switching from kanban to 2-week sprints with sprint planning and retrospective meetings.• Improved cross-functional team communication and reduced redundant questions by switching from Google Chat and emails to Slack and setting up proper channels without burdening people with over-communication.• Discouraged data silos through better documentation, knowledge sharing, and demos.• Proposed more efficient meetings by writing emails including agendas to reduce the total amount of billable time each meeting was costing.• Proposed better incident response and error resolution by switching from error emails to Sentry.
