From these equations we are assessing how well the QEPAS current waveform matches a desired ideal current waveform for detection and estimation signal processing: a sinusoidal signal with a periodic on-off magnitude corresponding to the laser pulses. Presently, breath analysis is used clinically to monitor asthma, diagnose transplant organ rejection, diagnose Helicobacter pylori infection, detect blood alcohol concentration, and monitor breath gases during anesthesia, mechanical ventilation, and respiration, among other applications.The first portion of the breath comes from the airway where little gas exchange takes place, while the last portion comes from the alveoli that are closest to the pulmonary circulation, the main site for gas exchange. By fractioning the breath, it is possible to examine what part of the breath contains which molecules in what concentrations. By getting these concentration levels, it will be possible to decide on which fraction of breath would be most optimal to measure a particular compound. Show less
