I followed a dream to teach Maths. It is one of my great passions. I think maths is an enabler of success in so many different careers and pursuits - it was completely crucial in my career to date - and I wanted to help the next generation thrive.I completed a PGCE at the masters' level from Bath Spa University in association with a Schools Centered Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) at SWTT in Exeter. I taught in Stoke-on-Trent (an area managing to cope with high levels of deprivation), and conversely, also in Leafy Cheshire.Having gone as far as I could, it was time for me to return to my first career and passion; but, I still intend to coach GCSE and A-level when convenient.

I assisted with programming, test, and management of several developments for clients including Thorn Microwave Devices, Thales, Cubic Transportation Systems, Cobham, Plextek, and Ultra Electronics. I performed a number of secondary duties in this SME (originally of 5 staff and rising to 19) including Quality Assurance Representative. Application domains were:- radar signal processing, remote configuration and monitoring, safety and mission critical systems, emulation/simulation, cryptography for payment systems, load and stress testing, mission planning, development tools, command and control systems, satellite telephony, and data logging. My first job following graduation was with my sponsor Dowty Electrics (now Ultra Electronics) in their motors group; I helped to design brushless dc motors, associated power electronic controllers and drivetrain. After a couple of years I switched to their projects management department, and then to avionic software development. On Dowty's relocation of a project (Fokker50 Propellor Electronic Controller) to Dowty Electronics (now Ultra Electronics) I transfered to London. My final job in the Dowty Group of companies was software engineering on naval defence contracts with Dowty Maritime Command and Control Systems (now Ultra Electronics)
