At Macmillan’s fundraising office contributed to recruitment of walkers for Bure Valley Sponsored Walk• Supported an event that raised £25,000 for Macmillan Cancer support• Maintained database of 500 volunteers• Researched internet to identify possible fundraising leads• Produced published articles on notable volunteer achievements for the Macmillan website

Carried out field research in support of initiatives in aid of children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Uganda, India, Thailand and Mongolia.This research fed programmes into AFXB’s worldwide from developed understanding of households and communities caring for children orphaned, and otherwise affected by, HIV/AIDS• In Asia, transferable knowledge gained from the African context was put into practice for HIV/AIDS support programming• Led a team of 12 researchers to collect data from 8 Indian states to achieve collection of qualitative data to assess the life chances of vulnerable children, with the impact of HIV/AIDS projected to increase• Presented research findings at major international conferences: 20 presentations have been made at major international conferences and workshops• Research published as AFXB’s “Orphan Alert” publications• Provided policy advice on issues of children affected by HIV/AIDS to AFXB’s programmes worldwide• Report writing: including research papers, policy frameworks, press releases and project reports• Supported managers to complete fundraising applications• Data analysis and interpretation to support projects• Press conferences: producing and presenting to newspapers and radio on issues of children affected by HIV/AIDS• Presentations to health care professionals and social workers on issues of children affected by HIV/AIDS• Through extensive advocacy work, shifted paradigms of best practice in child care significantly, away from institutional care towards community and family based approaches.
