Academic lecturer in the field of materials engineering, although this includes research and consultancy work.Engineering & Mathematics group lead for Teaching and Learning, Programme leader MSc Advanced Materials Engineering.Academic activities include lecturing on various materials engineering subjects- metallurgy, composite materials and forensic materials engineering, polymers etc.Research activities are being undertaken in the fields of metallurgy, metallic composite coatings for protection of steel substrates and electrode manufacture for solid oxide fuel cells. This work involves the manufacture of various coatings and analysis through corrosion, coating adhesion, micro abrasion and material characterisation.I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining IOM3 (FIMMM), Chartered Engineer (CEng) and previous President of the Scottish Association for Metals. Member of the IOM3 Accreditation Panel & Accreditation and Professional Formation Committee (APFC)
