The Maritime Composite Training System (MCTS) is key to enabling Versatile Maritime Training (VMT) for the delivery of future training for the RN supporting individual, sub-team and platform warfare team training for seven different RN platforms.Nov-06: Senior System Design Authority - with responsibility for the overall solution covering Training, Equipment/Media, Buildings and Service strands of development. This role has required an adaption of skills to take a much broader 'holistic' view of the training capability focused on the coherent delivery of Training Objectives (TO). Key challenge is developing the strategy for acceptance off contract though delivery of pilot courses to in excess of 1,000 trainees. Sep-05: Media Design Authority - responsible for the analysis/specification of the overall system architecture and specific Insyte developments for Warfare Team Trainer (WTT), Common Synthetic Environment Control (CSEC) and Servers & Local Area Network (S&LAN).Mar-04: Solution Architect - for the bid/demonstration with particular responsibility for the concept design / de-risking of the overall system architecture/infrastructure and the reconfigurable Warfare Team Trainer (WTT) using a blend of operational applications and equipment /environmental simulations. Capture of solution into proposal.

Responsible for the specification, design and engineering solution development for an export Shore Based Training Simulator (SBTS) and upgrade to the Royal Navy Hunt Class Command and Operator Trainer. The SBTS required the development of a Synthetic Environment (SE) that included simulation/emulations/stimulation techniques to exercise NAUTIS-3M, Sonar 2093, Dynamic Auto-Piloting System, Mine Disposal System (including underwater visuals and Sonar 6012), Radar 1007 and associated Communications System.Initially, the Hunt project required the update to an existing trainer to include NAUTIS-3M and Sonar 2193. The solution required the development of an embedded acoustic stimulator capable of delivering very high resolution acoustic data to the User Interface. The approach to embed the stimulator allowed a low cost On-Board Trainer to be included in the overall solution. Close liason with DPA allowed the work scope to be doubled and a new standalone trainer to be developed using bespoke USB based Interface Stimulators to drive legacy equipment from a PC based open architecture.
