The uniqueness of the challenge was twofold: it was the first to require a sustainability screening for the plan and it required a reordering of the traditional stacking of resources, by placing conservation and new renewables ahead of traditional resources. Other roles were to begin the rebuilding of electricity planning policy for the interplay of environmental, energy and infrastructure planning policies within broad provincial and municipal planning processes. -
Manager, Strategy And DevelopmentHydro One 1998 - 2005Identified how the government-mandated municipal restructuring framework dovetailed with electricity restructuring to company's business advantage for distribution sector consolidation. The database of municipal and utility variables I built was instrumental in the strategy and execution of the acquisition of 88 of the 306 municipal electric utilities, bringing in ~160,000 new customers in three years. I also developed the approach to determining receptivity for sale, acted as the first-in contact to most of the municipal shareholders, and served as lead negotiator for a number of the larger transactions and resolutions of post-closing settlement issues. -
