Later that year we held our first elections to broaden board representation.In 2009 the MAA moved from Pera in Leicestershire to its current offices in Coventry.The MAA works closely with the UK's other regional aerospace alliances and the national body ADS, as well as with other European and world-wide aerospace clusters.Membership is open to all companies and organisations that are part of the aerospace industry or desire to become part of the industry. Associate membership is available to companies outside the Midlands region.

Royal Air Force

During my 14 years in the Royal Air Force I gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in Gas Turbines, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Composite Materials, Flying Controls and Landing Gear Systems. I spent 4 years working on Rolls Royce RB199 Turbo Fan Jet Engine in the RAF's RB199 base maintenance facility where I was responsible for the fault diagnosis and rectification in support of the RAF's Tornado Fleet. The role compromised of the complete strip, rebuild and testing of the RB199 jet engine.I then spent 9 years working on the C17 Globemaster III; primarily maintaining the aircraft's impressive four Pratt & Whitney F117-PW-100 Turbofan Engines, Landing Gear, Hydraulics and Composite Structures. I became a senior member of the team responsible for the supervision of a number of engineers carrying out fault diagnosis and rectification work using complex test equipment, engineering drawings and computer aided software. Carried out Non Destructive Testing (NDT) utilising multiple techniques. I was an authorised aircraft engine operator and also carried out in depth preventative maintenance on a scheduled basis to ensure the aircraft's safety.

West Midlands

I joined the company as a Junior Electronic Engineer and became part of a team responsible for the development of home alarm, swipe card and electronic keypad systems. I was involved in the design and manufacture of prototype circuit boards/software and co-lead a technical solutions department for home security systems.Main duties included:- Repair of electronic security systems- Construction of circuit boards for newly developed software- Liaised with the public providing technical support- Introduction of new products
