Neil Smyth is an artist and researcher at Connect, Trinity College Dublin. His work explores representation and communication of data through auditory, visual and interactive displays, and is informed by research in areas such as sonification, music cognition, and interaction design. Neil holds a first-class honours master's degree in Music and Media Technologies, an honours BA in Fine Art Media, and a first-class honours certificate in Music Production for Games. His master's thesis project saw the design and implementation of a new tangible interface for real-time performance and spatialisation of granular synthesis. In 2013 he was awarded an internship at Microsoft Research Cambridge, where he researched and designed audio feedback for use in touchless interactive systems.Neil has a deep understanding of psychoacoustics and synthesis, and is skilled in a broad range of technologies relating to music, audio and interactive media. He also works as a freelance composer and sound designer for visual media, and is represent in Ireland by Assembly.
