Effective Health & Safety Management Ltd was set up to provide organisations with experienced, professional support in managing health and safety. Services include strategic assistance, independent reviews and bespoke audits, training and project work.Neil has worked with a wide range of organisations including electric and gas utilities, large retailers, local authorities, manufacturing companies, contractors, FE colleges, agricultural producers and processors, an NHS Trust and various trade associations and professional bodies.In recent years Neil has developed a specialism in ‘good governance in health and safety’ which he sees as a powerful, positive way of helping boards and other governing bodies pull together, in a more holistic way, the key OSH issues they now face - for example, the importance of leadership and employee engagement; organisational culture; risk management; organisational accountability; compliance and assurance; sustainability and resilience.Assistance in this area can range from high level health-checks eg as part of a board evaluating its OSH capability, through to sessions on good governance in health and safety for boards, other governing bodies and also OSH professionals.Recently Neil has been working with IOSH to develop a board level product in this area, as well as running related CPD courses for OSH professionals to help strengthen strategic skills in this area. www.hs-governance.co.uk
