I love how machine learning can be applied to a huge variety of problems and that it's only the imagination that limits its application. I want to use these skills in fields that I'm passionate about like the video game industry or Formula 1.For the last 6 years I was a baker in Montreal and Quebec City. When I was baking in Montreal, I had the opportunity to work with really passionate and talented bakers from around the world. I worked with a small production team where there was a strong team spirit. The owner was self-made and passionate about bringing his vision of how a bakery should run and set a high standard for the quality of products. I was given the time and space to develop and perfect my baking skills and slowly take on more responsibilities over the years. It was hard to walk away from this position but the opportunity to be a homeowner was too great to pass up on. I quickly learned the job market in baking was not as lucrative in Quebec City as in Montreal, I decided then that it was time for a change. With the help of a friend and a Udemy course, I was put on the path to becoming a data scientist.My recently acquired skills were put to the test and further developed during the Data Science Boot Camp at Concordia University, an intensive 12 week full-time course with an intense pace. I got to learn about the mathematical theory behind the machine learning and how it is applied as well as personally developing time management to deal with the constant workload. Overall I really enjoyed the course even though it was tough. I got to work with some talented people in my cohort on interesting group projects such as: - Algorithm Design- Regression Discontinuities- Web Scraping/API with Unsupervised Learning- Image Classification using Convolutional Neural Networks
