The Home Office Business Unit forms part of Fujitsu’s UK Government Division (UKGD). Fujitsu is responsible for supplying over 35,000 users across the Home Office and UK Border Agency with IT services, including desktops, applications hosting, networks and supporting infrastructure. Throughout the placement I have rotated roles to work in four key areas, Applications strategy, Technical governance, BAU Projects and New Business. This has provided me with a unique oversight into how the different areas of the unit function as well as valuable customer relations experience. A key highlight for me was working on ‘Extend and Blend’ a flagship £330m project which is part of the Home Office’s Next Generation Information, Systems and Technology Transformation programme.
