Provides expert analysis and advice on the economic and fiscal conditions of the Province. Responsibilities and accomplishments include:- Leading the production of macroeconomic and fiscal models;- Authoring key reports on Ontario’s economy and government finances, including the assessment of the sale of Hydro One, the economic impact of the proposed increase in Ontario’s minimum wages, and the impact on government finances of a potential housing correction; and- Managing relationships with Members of Provincial Parliament, senior officials in the Ontario Public Service, media and other stakeholders.

Providing expert analysis and advice on the fiscal conditions of the Province, analyzing key issues under the mandate of the Financial Accountability Office (FAO) of Ontario, and supports the office by:- Providing strategic advice on the management, operations and work plans of the FAO;- Leading staff by creating frameworks and models for the analysis of issues, providing advice on the analysis and presentation of issues, and providing mentorship;- Conducting economic, financial and legislative analysis of key issues under the mandate of the FAO, including the financial impact of the partial sale of Hydro One and transparency in budget reporting;- Managing projects and staff by creating work plans, prioritizing tasks, ensuring timelines are met, conducting quality control and coordinating workflows; - Developing models, databases and other tools to improve the quantitative capabilities of the FAO; and- Liaising with contacts in the OPS and use network to gather information and advice.

Supported the Government of Ontario’s intergovernmental strategy and strengthened the Province’s interests within the Canadian federation by:- Conducting cutting-edge research, which included the impact of federal transfers on interprovincial labour mobility and of the taxation of corporate groups on Equalization, provincial property tax systems and labour-market training; - Creating an interprovincial cross-sectoral expenditure-needs funding allocation model of government programs using key cost drivers such as socio-economic factors;- Producing high-quality economic and fiscal models and databases including the interjurisdictional fiscal comparisons database, Canada’s first nation-wide distance-based remoteness index (using GIS software), and an interprovincial personal income tax model consisting of all provincial tax systems; - Leading the negotiation of federal-provincial transfers such as the Equalization program, the review of the Canada Transportation Act, the Building Canada Plan and labour market training agreements; and- Managing and coordinating work across ministries and governments to support Ontario’s intergovernmental objectives.
