I served as an AmeriCorps paralegal working closely with attorneys to provide assistance to low-income clients in the fields of housing law and unemployment insurance benefits cases. My primary responsibility was to provide support to callers, where I listened to over ten potential clients daily to determine their eligibility for services, performing intakes or referrals where appropriate.I assisted clients with filling out paperwork - such as requests for loan modification for foreclosure and prescreens for our incorporation’s uncontested divorce program - facilitating their navigation through the legal process.Under the supervision of a Supervising Attorney, I had the opportunity to represent one client in an Unemployment Insurance Benefits case. I reviewed the hearing packet for the case and the New York State Unemployment Insurance Claimant Handbook and drafted several legal arguments that I presented to the court.

I worked as part of my team to provide neutral investigations into employee and management concerns with the goal of resolving workplace issues, including safety and discrimination concerns and interpersonal conflicts. My focus was on ensuring all workers are heard in their place of work.I aided in interviews with complainants, subjects, and witnesses. I also composed detailed close-out memorandums and other documents for resolved issues, working with my team to promote success and increase satisfaction in the workplace.

I reviewed over 30 case files to make recommendations on mediation or proposed dismissal. For several case files, I developed neutral summaries of fact or drafted parts of decisions, promoting more efficient docket management. I observed hearings and mediations, taking notes to aid in judicial decision-making.I co-organized the first in a series of ADR "H@ppy Meal" events, contributing to the expansion of the pro bono mediation program. Here, I developed my project management skills, arranging meetings between public and private sector program coordinators and managing over 100 contacts.I led trainings and composed online tutorials for incoming legal technicians. I conducted lessons on docketing, closing cases, and organizing legal correspondence across multiple district offices.I carefully studied over 100 case files as part of an extensive project, searching for mislabeled, duplicate, or unclosed cases that may have been affected by a software transition. The project refocused attention on these cases, allowing for easy docket management in new software.

My research involved a thorough analysis of 10 recent employment law cases at the District Court level. I examined plaintiff success rates in cases where the plaintiff had disclosed their disability to the employer, furthering current understanding of judicial decision-making in disability discrimination suits.

I analyzed shockwave motions and performed calibrations, advancing understanding of data collected during more than five experimental shots, and used data to develop new models in complex geometries.
