• Lead design and development work on a petabyte-scale science platform with a 10+ year lifespan.• Host workshops in software development best-practices (test-driven development, prof ling and containerization) to help scientists make their research software more robust, efficient and portable. • Extend software applications to integrate with open-source observability stacks for monitoring (StatsD), logging (Fluentd) and tracing (OpenTracing).• Profile and optimize critical sections of scientific workloads, reimplement certain algorithms to run in parallel or use asynchronous I/O.• Administer Kubernetes clusters (both self- and vendor-managed) to provide a highly-available and cost-effective compute environment for web servers, HTTP APIs and unpredictable scientific workloads.• Develop lift-and-shift migration plans for moving software and data from private infrastructure into public and hybrid cloud platforms.• Advise other development groups about the benefits and drawbacks of adopting technologies like Docker and Kubernetes for their work.
