As a dedicated osteopathic medical student at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, I am driven by a passion for laboratory medicine and understanding the human body at a microscopic level. My journey in this field has been shaped by my focused educational background and extensive hands-on experience, paving the way toward my goal of becoming a pathologist.Working as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), I was captivated by the intricacies of human pathology. At Trinity Health and Corewell Health, I honed my skills in the clinical lab, gaining valuable experience across multiple departments, including Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Blood Bank. The variety fueled my love for the lab, and I thrived on running tests, interpreting results, and collaborating with hospital departments to provide accurate and timely results.Now at MSUCOM, I have immersed myself in academic and extracurricular activities that align with my career goals. As an Anatomy and Histology Laboratory Bluecoat at Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine, I facilitated digital histology studies, assisting fellow medical students in understanding physiological and pathological states. I also serve as the Treasurer of the CHM-COM Pathology Interest Group, in which I have organized events and collaborated with other medical students and physicians to foster a deeper understanding of pathology. This is in addition to my year-long elective that simulates “sign-outs” with a practicing pathologist, which has been invaluable in developing my sense of histologic interpretation.I am fascinated by the use of microscopy to interpret our own anatomy and physiology, where each slide tells a story waiting to be deciphered.
