• Reform department processes to improve operations through strategies including regularly scheduled project coordination meetings to ensure project schedules are maintained and unexpected matters are resolved quickly; project scoping meetings at the outset of capital projects to minimize scope gap, prepare a proper project budget, and properly procure services; and preparation of communication plans to ensure the department is effectively communicating with partners, stakeholders, the public, and staff• Represent the department in regional collaborations including the Peninsula Working Group and Santa Cruz Mountain Stewardship Network to ensure the department is participating in regional initiatives, including implementation of the California Coastal Trail, Ohlone-Portola Heritage Trail, and the Fine Scale Vegetation Mapping project• Define habitat restoration priorities for the natural resource management division with the a focus on improving and preserving the ecological value of parkland for the benefit of native flora and fauna, enhancing recreational experiences for park visitors, and allowing San Mateo County Parks to provide interpretive programming regarding active land stewardship • Oversee the department’s fire fuel reduction effort, which includes implementation of fuel reduction projects at Quarry Park, San Pedro Valley Park, Huddart Park, and Edgewood Park, and the development of a maintenance process to ensure all treated areas are appropriately retreated to prevent the re-growth of flash fuels and other hazardous vegetation • Supervise project managers to ensure priority capital projects, including the Re-imagine Flood Park, Tunitas Creek Beach Improvement Project, Coyote Point Eastern Promenade Project, and Memorial Park Restroom and Shower Room Facility Improvement Project are properly scoped and delivered in the most appropriate manner possible

• Advised the Board of Supervisors, County Manager’s Office, and county departments on creative strategies to reduce ongoing financial obligations associated with occupying real estate, including consolidation of leased facilities and acquisition of real estate as well as methods to maximize revenue from leasing out county-owned assets, including office space and cellular facilities in a politically sensitive and operationally feasible manner• Directed the improvement of division operations by restructuring performance measures to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of outputs, adjusting the service charge structure to eliminate the division’s structural deficit, writing of the division’s first set of policies and procedures to ensure effective implementation of division responsibilities, selection of the County’s first lease management system, and prioritizing customer service • Led the acquisition of real property, including 3060-3080 Middlefield Road in North Fair Oaks, medical office buildings to support the Health System, and Tunitas Creek Beach by analyzing the opportunities, constraints, and possible consequences of acquiring the property, conducting a detailed due diligence process including appraisals, environmental review and property condition assessments, and making sound recommendations to the Board of Supervisors and County Manager• Managed staff when collaborating with various departments and agencies in order to develop and implement strategies to advance public works projects in the most efficient manner possible including an Amendment to the Acquisition Agreement with the City of Half Moon Bay to support the Seymour Bridge project, the negotiation of a permit for the Granada Community Services District to implement new park improvements on the Coastside, and permit agreements with SFPUC for use of its rights-of-way

• Establish and maintain key relationships with state legislators and staff, mayors, city council members, appointed officials, city and county administrators, business leaders and non-profit organizations • Foster political partnerships and secure financial contributions for high profile projects and policy initiatives by presenting detailed project reports to governing bodies and executive staff and negotiating project details to satisfy the needs of the partnership• Collaborate with various stakeholders to identify and amend outdated County ordinances and practices that impede improvements to local transportation, economic development and recreation • Effectively develop crisis management communication by analyzing briefings and delivering a strategic message to a target audience that proactively addresses high priority concerns
