Profile bio

About Nicholas Carroll

PhD student at North Carolina State University in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. I'm currently conducting research as an SRC Scholar in the Parsons Group on thin film formation processes for microelectronic device fabrication. The specific goal of my current research involves controlling the lateral growth profiles of different materials during area-selective deposition (ASD) using materials relevant to the semiconductor industry.I have experience in analysis of semiconductor wafer fabrication operations in a cleanroom environment, particularly in the areas of I-line and Deep UV photolithography. I am knowledgeable regarding the troubleshooting of wafer fabrication operations. During my undergraduate studies, I conducted research with the Parsons Group at NCSU focused on thin film formation and micro-scale chemical reaction techniques to form new functional materials and devices, such as metal-organic framework synthesis carried out on fibrous substrates for carbon dioxide capture, dye pollutant adsorption, and chemical warfare agent degradation. I prefer hands-on problem solving using DoE skills coupled with data analysis and efficient communication with my team.
