I have practised at the criminal bar for 40 years, prosecuting and defending in all types of case. Throughout my practise I have had a particular interest in firearms, whether involving criminal offences or firearms licensing matters. A large proportion of my practice now involves regulatory work, particularly in relation to firearms and explosives. In 2008 I was appointed the only common law legal advisor to the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC). I was awarded the Silver Medal of the CIC for service to Game and Wildlife Conservation in 2022. In 2011 I co-authored The Firearms Law Handbook, now in it’s second edition, August 2019 (Wildy, Simmonds & Hill publishers -www.wildy.com). I am a chairman of a shooting club, shoot regularly and am a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers and the Worshipful Company of Glaziers.Since January 2023 in have been a Director of the Gun Trade Association.
