Software Engineer: Assistant Vice President
Current• Spearheads the implementation of enterprise grade automation and defines development practices for a monolithic application consisting of 4 million lines of code, within a dynamic team of 250 members.• Collaborates with security teams to enforce and maintain PCI compliance by implementing and documenting security requirements. Helps solve severe vulnerabilities expediently, such as the 2021 log4j issue, by coordinating operations to ensure we maintain our SLA and fix the issue quickly and securely.• Migrated our build process from using windows static agents to Docker. The windows agents had become unmaintainable to support in a large enterprise and the adoption of Docker strengthened our capabilities to expand with additional modern tools in the future.• Wrote a Jenkins library to interface with an internal enterprise library. This consolidated our deployment operations to a single codebase and simplified the onboarding of new applications. Migrated to use Git and GitLab, which introduced new functionality and greatly expanded our development capabilities, but required the training of developers. To smooth the transition, designed and wrote documentation on a Git merge strategy, trained developers in Git and in effective GitLab code review techniques.• Migrated our build process from Ant to Gradle, resulting in reduced compilation time from one hour to less than ten minutes. The large and complex codebase, consisting of tangled and convoluted Ant scripts, greatly increased the difficulty of this migration, but consolidating into concise Gradle scripts enabled more advanced debugging capabilities.• Automated manual Ant build processes to leverage RTC. This conversion reduced hours spent daily on manual builds to fully automated compilation. Implemented static code analysis tools and integrated with the automated build. Provided training to engineers who were unfamiliar with how to integrate security analysis activities in their team.
