Provide technical and analytical support in the field of ecotoxicology by performing standardized and innovative laboratory and field-based toxicity testing procedures. The bioassay lab at SSC Pacific is ELAP certified for several standard toxicity procedures and an additional part of my position is maintaining records and ensuring proper QA/QC methods are followed. Finally, I am the PI and supporting several research projects. These projects include, but are not limited to, exploring alternative toxicity testing methodologies, validation of passive sampling devices, and developing novel in-situ toxicity testing technologies, and poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) toxicity and sorbent evaluations.

Designed and ran laboratory and field experiments in addition to managing undergraduate assistants. Thesis Title: The combined effects of flow speed and sub-lethal pesticide exposure on predator-prey interactions between an estuarine fish and worm.

Taught biostatistics lab as part of the introductory statistics class for biology students. This included teaching students how to use SYSTAT.

Assisted with research process at the lab as well as ensured compliance with university and county safety standards.

This scholarship is a merit based award for students in a NOAA related field. It included an internship which I did in Honolulu, HI in the summer of 2011. For this internship I used ArcGIS and Excel to analyze the movement of juvenile Hawaiian pink snapper in their nursery habitat.

Collected and identified many species of invertebrates in one of the first comprehensive surveys off Cape Arago. Thesis Title: The shallow subtidal rocky bottom invertebrate community off Cape Arago, Oregon and its implications for the Oregon marine reserve designation process.

Enumerated phytoplankton samples and kept detailed records as part of NOAA’s Monitoring and Event Response of Harmful Algal Blooms program.

Electroshocked high altitude streams to perform fish surveys. Identified juvenile bull trout habitat for management purposes.
