I am a full-time teacher and mentor for high school students (CHS). The day-to-day consists of project-based research, associative reading of literary, historical, philosophical, religious and scientific texts and spirited discussion that leads to peer-reviewed writing and dynamic, community-based interaction.I direct, develop and coordinate student-led social justice activism within the realms of Child Development, Mental Health, Environmental Impact and Climate Change, Women's Rights, Ownership and Autonomy, LGBTTQ+, Immigration, Institutional Racism, Mass Incarceration, Class Economy, Human Trafficking and more. This consists of in-house round tables, guest speaker series, research-based awareness-raising, responsible and informed protests, institutional changes, as well as community-based outreach and consistent volunteer work aligned with so many people and organizations doing the good work.I direct, develop and coordinate student-led Community Outreach, Activities and Events. This includes daily activities available on campus as well as major events to celebrate the community. I write, edit and create noteworthy content for people and brands. I have launched an autonomous online presence for an established literary print journal, provided branding content for marketing companies and worked with creatives from around the globe. I specialize in the short story. In my work and in my writing, I seek stories that stick and move.

TeacherCathedral High School College Preparatory - Los Angeles Jan 2017 - Aug 2021Greater Los Angeles AreaI train students to close-read poetry, short stories, myths, religious texts, novels, history, articles, social media accounts, youtube videos, podcasts, standup specials, TV shows and movies from around the world. We read with an introspection of the self that points up and out to a "galaxy of signifiers" within a globalized setting. With a focus on the confessional, the interview and the tone of speaking to an audience that deliberately or unwittingly ignores (Dostoevsky, Djebar, Habakkuk, Hrabal, Lorde), our mission has been to transcribe and trace the texture of our own memory while exercising an associative thought-process which considers the surrounding sociopolitical landscape. Instead of establishing a canon, we look for momentary constellations.Classwork consists of a daily routine of meditative breathwork, prayer, Journal, Current Event + tantamount background research/discussion, mark-up of the Text (includes multi-media interdisciplinary approach), discussion and project work (ranges from independent creation, research and group work). -
