My responsibilities have included;• Manage funds and bank optimization for UNICEF Somalia’s over $200M annual throughput.• Prepare Bank reconciliation statements• Enforce sound and effective stewardship of UNICEF financial resources• Conduct assurance activities on implementing partners• Implement preparation and closure of accounts, and submission of requisite reports and schedules to regional office and headquarters at New York• Collaborate with Local Bankers and UNICEF Headquarters to ensure timely and economical replenishments of local UNICEF Bank and Cash on Hand accounts• Execute timely and accurate payments to bona fide third parties in accordance with UNICEF Financial rules and regulations. • Prepare for and support in internal Audits and execution of recommendations• Draft of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure economy, efficiency and effectiveness of results• Timely and accurate payroll processing over 300 UNICEF Somalia for Staff members• Compute and or review entitlement payments • Ensure auditability of the payroll records and accuracy of payroll data maintained through the SAP systems.• Occasionally advice management on technical issues related to Payroll and Entitlements, SAP-HR, Accounting, etc.• Reconcile payable and receivable GL accounts including Personal advances and Recoveries (PAR).• Manage Travel Authorizations (TA) payments through review of claims, refunds and reimbursements for staff and Air ticket vendors. • Assist in reconciliation of Table of Authority and Delegation of Authorities' Documents to prevent and or detect segregation of duties violations.• Deliberated in the Risk and Audit Management committee of UNICEF Somalia• Train and orient on-boarding staff on the functions of the Finance unit and its outputs and the Enterprise Resource Planning Software (SAP –VISION)
