Coordinating UNEP Africa Office execution roles for a 3-year cross-cutting capacity development (CCCD) project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and implemented by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) in the Republic of South Sudan. UNEP's Science Division manages 2 global portfolios funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The GEF cross-cutting capacity development (CCCD) and the GCF funded Climate Services portfolios are aimed at enhancing the technical, institutional and systematic capacities of developing countries to amongst others:(i) mainstream, implement, monitor, and fulfil reporting obligations under priority Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) and the Sustainable Developing Goals (SDGs); (ii) mainstream environmental sustainability & other MEA/ SDG aspirations in national policies & decision-making processes; (iii) enhance resilience, adaptation mechanisms & early warning systems against climate change-induced hazards & disasters etc. My role entails: • Development & quality review of project concepts, proposals, consultancy ToRs and legal instruments (SSFAs, PCAs, ICAs, MoUs);• Overseeing timely submission & quality review of technical GEF & GCF reports;• Supporting the finance & admin office to manage financial/ administrative issues and reporting, through organising regular project meetings and sustaining responsive correspondences with national partners;• Building linkages with partners in countries, and supporting them prepare project documents, budgeted work plans, and periodic reports meeting UNEP, GEF & GCF standards;• Undertaking & facilitating in-country project monitoring missions.Key achievements:• Overall ‘Very Good’ rating during 2018, 2019 and 2020 UNV Performance Appraisal Reporting (PAR) periods;• Co-managed project design (proposal drafting, consultancy recruitments, country missions, proposal review & GEF approval processes), managed first-year implementation launches and facilitated in-country inaugural steering committee missions for UNEPS new projects in Benin, Botswana, Mauritania, South Sudan and Iraq

WASH project manager in charge of Samburu County WASH in schools project. This was a DfID/UKAID grant project implemented by UNICEF, with World Vision Kenya (WVK) serving as the lead executing agency in partnership with the host County government technical offices in charge of water, public health, education and public works. Generally, my roles included ensuring/overseeing : - Effective project design, planning, and implementation- Monitoring, reporting, and documentation- Advocacy, engagement, networking & partnerships- Enhanced empowerment & capacity buildingMoreover, I also doubled as the local WASH officer for WVK managing its traditional projects in Loroki Area Development Program (ADP); by offering WASH/construction expertise services for teams implementing livelihoods, peace & security, education, nutrition and child sponsorship programs within the ADP. This entailed providing technical expertise in project design, planning, implementation, M&E, financial control and overall coordination with local humanitarian partners within the County.
