This position involved managing AGL Energy's Boiler Manufacturing Workshop at Virginia (Brisbane).It included scoping boiler manufacture, fit out and installation, as well as onsite and workshop based repairs. I also provided technical advice and expertise to internal and external customers about steam applications to help improve plant and equipment efficiency.The implementation of AGL's safety and quality management systems was a key part of this role.

Richmond Dairies manufactures quality dairy ingredients, predominantly for sale into export markets.This was a very diverse role, ranging from the management of major upgrade projects and providing technical engineering advice, to assisting in frontline troubleshooting during breakdown events. In the relatively short time that I was in this role, I managed and coordinated a large number of capital upgrade projects, improved equipment reliability and implemented maintenance and safety management procedures..Working in a small company, with limited engineering assistance forced me to learn very quickly, and adapt to changing conditions and priorities.

I was one of two mechanical engineers in BlueScope Steel’s Energy Services Department. Energy Services was responsible for the generation and distribution of steam, gas and electricity within the Port Kembla Steel Works. The primary purpose of this role was to provide technical engineering support to the maintenance and operations personnel, and assist with capital projects as required.
