Throughout my 8-week Wealth Planning Summer Internship at Castellum Financial, I had the wonderful opportunity to get a hands-on view of wealth planning and the world of financial advisories. Working alongside some incredibly kind and knowledgeable people the opportunity allowed me a space to grow and learn some extremely valuable skills like portfolio construction and modeling. Using the visualization software IncomeLab and Nitrogen I was able to break down retirement plans into clean reports that we could send to clients. I also assisted in updating client profiles in ClientWorks and calculating RMDs for those clients for whom it was applicable.

During my 12-week Sales Operations Internship, I had the chance to immerse myself in the dynamic PEO industry, focusing on Sales Operations. Under the guidance of my mentor, I engaged extensively with Excel and Salesforce.com. My responsibilities encompassed constructing persuasive sales proposals using a tailored Excel template and cross-referencing and validating data through Salesforce.com. I contributed to Salesforce by inputting any missing information and updating certain opportunities. Collaborating with many of Extensis’s sales managers I created side-by-side in Salesforce and submitted proposals to the finance team for pricing approvals. One of my most challenging projects was the construction of a competitor health plan database where I inputted over 400 unique competitor health plans and constructed an Excel table that used data validation dropdowns and filter functions to pull medical plans contingent on selected fields. This experience honed my technical skills in Excel and Salesforce.com and deepened my understanding of their role in driving Sales Operations within the PEO sector while fostering invaluable professional connections.
