Over the previous summer, I did research in the Aerospace Vehicle Design Lab under Dr. Bernd Chudoba as well as research in the Advanced Sensor Technology Lab under Dr. Huang at the University of Texas in Arlington.

I am currently looking at the crack energy release rate with oil as the adhesive between two polystyrene slides. The next experiment will involve developing PDMS samples and which will replace oil as the adhesive and the crack energy release rate as well as the modulus of elasticity of the polymer.

I used the program Solidworks and ANSYS to create a CAD drawing of the sensor and then perform a finite element analysis with a thermal load applied.
