Growing up in a rural community I personally perceived the importance of quality teaching on the development of the youth. This has created my passion to become a teacher to have a positive impact on the youth. To achieve this goal I am now a student learning support officer at Scone high and will complete my Bachelors of Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Newcastle in 2024. Upon completion I will gain my Masters of Secondary Education.As a student at the University of Newcastle I developed analytical skills in my course Performance and Data Analysis. I analysed and transferred data sets that challenged my ability to apply knowledge I received from lecturers to solve data set problems. I reviewed the processes of coding in the laboratories and applied relevant literature to improve my coding and data reading ability. These data sets consisted of sporting content, like power, velocity and speed data. I am able to code in several different programs including Power BI and Excel which improved my data analysis ability. I received a distinction as an overall grade for this course for my quality work in this course.Further as a student at the University of Newcastle, I was required to apply critical thinking in my previous course Behavioural Change in Physical Activity. I provided examples in class on in depth psychological concepts within sporting contexts. I deciphered peer reviewed journal articles, which required critical thinking to decode the necessary information in research papers. I encountered different relevant and irrelevant papers related to my research. I am now more competent in reading and listening to scientific concepts, and able to apply these concepts to my own research. I received a High Distinction on an assignment in the rubric under the section of evaluation, which required evaluation of different research papers.My efforts in developing these transferable skills put me in good stead to become an accomplished teacher.
