Responsible for daily operations and supervision of the facility’s recreation department (fitness center, music department, arts and crafts department, family preservation center, entertainment room); organize and direct resident clerks and sanitation workers to coordinate and schedule activities; schedule use of facilities and equipment; plan and develop extracurricular activities and events to include foot races, sporting tournaments, strength challenges, music talent shows, art projects, etc; maintain accountability of all recreation equipment and instruct proper use to prevent damage and/or injury; create and maintain reports to initiate repairs of the recreation department and order equipment and supplies as needed.

Facility Quick Response Team (QRT) and regional Emergency Squad Member; specially trained in equipment, weapons systems, and tactics to respond to a wide variety of disturbances, provide crowd control, and perform escape searches. The primary objective of Emergency Response Operations is to provide support and assistance to distressed facilities in order to return those facilities back to normal operations.

As a Count & Control officer, instruct and advise staff in the function and organization of day-to-day operations of the facility via multiple modes of communication (radio, phone, email); issue and account for all facility equipment used by custody and contractual staff; account for total offender population and specific housing location and work detail at any given time; supervise and ensure total facility security via entry control point; transport offender(s) to/from civilian hospitals for medical emergencies, inter-facility disciplinary transfers, and assigned work locations, while maintaining security and strict procedural discipline.
