• Collected and analyzed micrometeorological and air quality measurements at a flux tower north of downtown Houston, TX• Downloaded and processed eddy covariance data daily using EdiRe and R language software• Traveled to tower site weekly for site inspection and instrument calibration• Analyzed Kljun, as well as Kormann and Meixner footprint model output for tower site• Collected soil respiration measurements in the tower footprint region• Thesis research utilized a modified relaxed eddy accumulation method to determine anthropogenic and biogenic carbon dioxide fluxes from typical urban land uses in the Houston area• Validated research methods through comparison of biogenic flux with temperature and irradiance measurements, and comparison of anthropogenic flux with local traffic counts• Improved writing and verbal skills through completion and defense of master’s thesis• Preliminary research results were presented at the American Geophysical Union Annual Meeting in 2011 and the 8th International Conference on Urban Climate in 2012
