About Nicholas Wright

I have gravitated towards data science in my career because it is always changing. The last thing I want in a job is to be bored, and there is no time to be bored in data science. There is always a new technique to learn, a new library to figure out, a new model to try out. There is always something challenging to learn.My statistical experience encompasses a wide range of techniques, including Regression/Classification, Longitudinal Analyses/Time Series, Dimensionality, Reduction Clustering, and Topic Modeling. My more recent challenges revolve around working with generative AI models, both proprietary LLMs and fine tuning open source LLMs.I primarily work in Python, though I have done a small amount of work in R and C# in the past. I'm familiar with the popular ml libraries and frameworks in Python--numpy, scipy, sklearn, xgboost, etc. I'm also familiar with deep learning and ai libraries--pytorch, transformers (hugging face), sentence-transformers, ai hosting libraries--huggingface TGI, lmdeploy, VLLM, model quantization techniques---gguf, awq, as well as the suite of standard NLP libraries--nltk, spacy, stanza.I can take the models made with those libraries, and expose api's to interact with them with docker, azure functions, etc. I've worked with other engineers to integrate analytics into our front end applications.I thrive on identifying opportunities and proactively teaching myself the necessary tools to address them. This drive for continuous learning and innovation fuels my ability to tackle complex challenges and deliver impactful solutions.
