Hi there! My name is Nicholas Karr. I’m an avid gamer, an ambitious musician, a technology admirer, and a language learner. After several years of career soul-searching, I’ve discovered a fulfilling career (or rather industry) that allows me to combine all of my passions whilst providing prosperous opportunities. That is becoming a Sound Designer in the Video Game Industry. As previously mentioned in my headline, I’m an Audio Production student — amongst many other things — who’s passionate about entering the industry. I’d be happy to help!Growing up, I’ve always played video games. It was a form of connection I had with my eight siblings and an easy way to build friendships; regardless of how far away they were. I started with the classic “flash games,” then moved to PlayStation consoles, then Steam, and now the Nintendo Switch. Along the way, I’ve played amazing games that ranged from First-Person Shooters, to Open Worlds, Battle Royals, RPGs, and a pinch of everything else. Because of video games, I’ve made so many memorable experiences and found a hobby that I could possibly turn into a fulfilling career; all while incorporating sound, music, and video games.With multiple years of musical experience, I have grown comfortable with Music Theory and applying it to various compositions and making formal analyses of musical pieces. Thus far, I’ve worked with Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Musescore 3 & 4, and Finale. I’ve also taken multiple Theory, Ear Training, Digital Music, Piano, and Vocal courses that have all contributed to my overall musicianship. To highlight, I recently took a Game Audio course that incorporated my musical and sound abilities.
