I am a business analyst who is eager to develop and hone his skills, and someone who wants to talk about preserving the planet, if not video games or mental health.I have always had a love for video games, particularly those that required problem-solving skills. I loved video games so much that I went to school to learn how to create them. As I learned the ins and outs of game design, one of my school projects was to create a game with a team of people for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) in order to promote the awareness of and help break the stigma of mental illness. Through this experience, I grew a fierce passion for technology and software (since video games are just fancy pieces of software) and how they can be used to make people's lives easier through efficient processes, whether as a learning tool or to automate tasks. I'm proud to say that my team won an award for our project.I started my career as a QA tester for a video game company, which led me to discover that I enjoy finding problems to be corrected. In fact, you can often find me trying to find bugs, whether I'm reviewing a developer's work, finding mistakes in user guides I've created, validating data, or playing a video game in my off time. At some point, my interest in environmentalism pulled me towards a job where I was part of a team (which I would later lead) that installed energy efficient products in multi-family buildings, which felt good to make a difference in people's lives. After leading over 400 direct installs and pouring many hours helping out wherever I could, my superiors noticed my talents for QA and love of software, thus leading to my promotion to become a Business Analyst. As a BA, I relish the opportunity to solve problems I come across in my work.I am an avid learner, especially when it comes to software. When I was tasked to create a tool based on existing software to calculate energy savings of equipment based on the Minnesota Technical Reference Manual, I taught myself how to code in Python, and I was able to create this tool in a timely manner. I have created programs for eight municipal electric and gas utilities in Minnesota to track energy savings and rebates while incorporating this tool.Skills include:- Requirement gathering- Resource management- Empathy towards clients- Dad jokes
