About Nicholas Castel

With roots in earth science, documentary film, and advocacy, Nicholas is a filmmaker who tells impactful stories about taking action in our world.     Students On Ice takes an international body of youth on sailing expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic to learn about climate change, ocean literacy, and advocate for change. My primary role has been as a Videographer and Media Educator, helping the foundation tell stories about the journey. However ship life with hundreds of youth also involves assuming different roles, including as a positive role model, mentor, friend, and pod leader during a jam-packed educational schedule. I spoke about my experiences as an ambassador for Sony Canada in 2018. I am grateful to be invited back to participate on these expeditions and continue to volunteer with the organization.
