About Nicholas Turner
I was born and raised in Michigan which I still consider home even though I have not lived in Michigan since 2014. In that time, I have been moving across the country serving as an U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General (JAG). I originally enlisted as a paralegal in the U.S. Army Reserve while in law school in 2009; however, I commissioned into the U.S. Army Reserve JAG Corps in 2013. I'm always looking for advancement opportunities which allow me to showcase my adaptive and quick learning legal skill set. I've repeatedly changed practice areas and job assignments which has made me a quick study with exposure to multiple legal practice areas. During my Army service, I have practiced in government ethics for multiple senior Army commands. I have specialized in Administrative Law through multiple assignments including some experience in Merit System Protection Board and labor matters. While assigned to Fort Stewart, Georgia, I provided legal advice on unique military environmental law issues. Over three years at the U.S. Army's Human Resources Command, I became a subject matter expert on Military Personnel Law matters. Prosecution and military justice have underpinned my entire legal career which includes multiple criminal justice roles within the Army along with service as the primary Fort Knox Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Kentucky. I also practiced civilian criminal defense prior to my entry onto active duty. Finally, my civilian practice also touched estate planning, family law, and general civil practice. My mixture of experience when combined with my critical thinking and communication skills allow me to help clients or agencies deal with complex and challenging legal issues. I'm currently completing a LLM in Military Law with a concentration in Criminal Law. My previous degrees were all awarded by the University of Toledo and they include a Master in Public Administration with a focus on organizational theory and urban policy (2016); a Juris Doctorate (2011); a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (2007); and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (2007). I'm licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan.
Listed skills include Multilingual, Team Management, Security, Performance Motivation, and 39 others.
