I joined Fortis Life Science's Manufacturing team in early 2021 to help provide support in the manufacturing of custom proteins, reagents, and more for utilization in scientific research, commercial use, and also medical devices and diagnostic tests. In 2022, I transitioned into the role of Quality Engineer where I am responsible for receiving, validating, calibrating, and maintaining all equipment at the Fortis Life Sciences - Grand Rapids sites. Additionally, I support the quality management system by authoring nonconformances, change order requests, deviations, corrective actions/preventative actions, and CoAs. Before I joined Fortis, I worked at Grand River Aseptic Manufacturing. There I was directly responsible for the highly regulated manufacturing of a wide-variety of parenteral pharmaceuticals as demanded by various client/partner needs. There I gained key experience working in state-of-the-art cleanrooms as well as with staying up to date with the latest cGXPs. Prior to entering the workforce, I was a recent graduate from MSU in Genomics and Molecular Genetics, having completed extensive coursework in medical and microbial fields, working both in groups and individually in laboratory settings to conduct experiments and analyze results. While there, I had the privilege to work as a research assistant under Dr. Robert Hausinger. Here I supported long-term studies by designing and conducting experiments, as well as leveraging my knowledge of advanced laboratory techniques, technologies, and methodologies to gather, analyze, and apply data, supporting research that ultimately resulted in publication.
