Who knew a fun hobby could become a career?I first learned to code in middle school and built upon what I knew with Java and C# in high school. Coding, at that time, was just a way for my friends and I to create little games for ourselves like text adventures and Galaga-type games. It wasn’t until looking at post-secondary education that I realized that coding I did for fun could become something I could make into a career. I studied Computer Science at the University of Manitoba and took Business Information Technology at Red River College Polytechnic. While I learned a lot of theory at the U of M, I appreciated the more hands-on approach at RRC Polytechnic. I learned a lot about web development using HTML, CSS, and Javascript then building on top of those with frameworks like PHP, React, and Ruby. I was able to work with different teams working on projects throughout both education experiences and was able to manage our goals and time to the specifications of the requirements or the client's expectations. Any type of programming I have done, both at work and at home, doing any type of problem is a highlight each and every day I get to do it. Sitting down at my computer, listening to some great music, and tackling big programming problems keeps me going!I am looking for any type of job where I can program like I have been. I will take those big hurdles and overcome them to make an idea a reality in our technological world. I am a Software Developer by heart and mind, I recognized it all the way back in middle school, and I strive to make that my reality.
