As the first full-time finance hire for Aquatic Informatics under the CFO, and over the next several years of high growth at the company, I had the opportunity to develop key workflows and adapt our financial processes to an ever-changing landscape. During this period, the workforce increased by 500% and I had the privilege of closely collaborating with all departments, thereby gaining valuable insights into the business. I later helped the CFO establish two additional legal entities and, as the company grew, I was responsible for helping to recruit and train multiple accounting contractors. I eventually became team leader upon permanent expansion of the finance team in 2015.

Provided accounting oversight and assistance for small to medium-sized corporate clients on a consulting basis, predominantly in the technology/life science/service industries. Responsibilities included regular financial statement preparation, complete bank reconciliations, accounts receivable/payable processing, inventory management, payroll administration, and tax filings. Additionally, performed various support tasks for the internal consultant team, such as the orientation and training of new hires, and creating standard operating procedures.

Supported the development of large-scale shareholder communications, such as press releases and marketing materials, on behalf of publicly traded clients. Also responsible for the conversion (using coding software) and electronic filing of regulatory compliance documents with the Canadian and United States securities commissions. Performed various bookkeeping tasks, such as customer invoicing and accounts receivable/payable management, and assisted with general office management.

Nurtured relationships with local vendors via the planning of various company and client-based events. Regularly supported the company’s Controller by managing the accounts receivable/payable and expense reporting processes.

Provided exceptional frontline telephone-based customer service and coordinated with on-site medical staff to resolve escalated support cases. Promoted to a purchasing role where I coordinated purchases amongst the company’s international pharmaceutical suppliers (principally in Israel and the United Kingdom), and facilitated knowledge transfer between these associate pharmacies and the main office.
