Assisting the Marketing and Admissions departments at an independent Quaker day and boarding school for children aged 3 to 18, based in North Somerset. The main purpose of such communication is to aid the development of close ties with existing customers so they feel in touch and well informed and become advocates of Sidcot. The secondary purpose is to use appropriate information to market the School externally to influence prospective parents (UK and overseas).Main roles include maintaining the website using CMS (Expression Engine / Wordpress / Drupal), sharing the School’s endeavours – including writing copy to assist with promoting the School through news, adverts and literature – and managing social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube including scheduling client Buffer), compiling the weekly newsletter (Mailchimp), providing adhoc photography and video work and producing creative artwork across Sidcot literature, signage and adverts for both digital and print. Alongside the Marketing Manager I am responsible for assisting with the organisation and project management of filming and photography work using external companies. Setting the tone and maintaining consistency through the brand and voice of the School is a key part of the Communications Officer’s role; gaining results from online presence through to conversion to enquiries.

The boarding tutor role is similar to that of a parent. The aim is to provide support and advice for all boys in the house wherever it is needed, to be approachable and encourage students with their endeavours.

I was presented with a fantastic opportunity to work with Replenish Weston (est. 2017 – 2020), a whole foods shop. I was appointed to help portray their message of low impact living and how we as consumers can make positive change by restocking our cupboards without the need to buy foods supplied in one-use plastic. I worked closely with other volunteer colleagues, especially the Communications Manager, and our aim was to inform the local public through social media of ways in which we can lead a pollution free and sustainable lifestyle. During my time there it was noted of the increase in social media followers which in turn saw an increase in footfall to the shop.The shop was founded by a local business person and became very successful in its transition in becoming a cooperative. Sadly, due to the impact of COVID-19 and personal circumstances, the shop has had to close its doors and cease trading.

Graphic design work carried out for clients both at the shop and working from home. Jobs included brand creation, artworking and printing on to various media. Anything from a business card to a full shop front design has been produced.

A specialist label and placard manufacturer supplying approved material products to the aerospace, military and OEM markets.My job role included working with CAD generated drawings to produce artwork that will enable the production of high quality products. Labels are made using materials such as anodised aluminum, polycarbonates, and high performance vinyl.

News media organisation including publications such as Weston, Worle & Somerset Mercury and North Somerset Times, plus other publications across North and East Devon. Job role included working in a busy artwork studio with a production team, liaising with the sales team to create adverts for both print and digital media.
