I’m ready to utilise my expertise as a insightful data analyst, innovative problem solver and effective communicator - developed during my PhD - to launch my career in healthcare data. I aim to build on my experiences with Python, SQL and R to help improve clinical delivery and solve clinical problems. If this interests you as well - why not reach out and connect?Here’s some things I loved while doing my PhD:(1) The space to learn – Whether it is lab equipment, software, analysis methods or computer modelling I’ve constantly been required to learn new things. Deeply understanding the how’s and the why’s of things is where I really get enjoyment out of them. (2) Problem solving – By definition conducting novel research aims to tackle unsolved questions. It’s full of surprises and requires creativity, adaptability and resilience. Every idea that doesn’t work is still a step forward to the solution that does. (3) Shouting about open research and reproducibility – This has been through my involvement in the Leeds hub of ReprobuciliTEA which is part of the UK reproducibility network (UKRN). It’s taught me so much and in particular about robust working styles and thinking beyond the micro-decisions of the day to day. (4) Helping others to learn – My PhD has given me the time and opportunity to support 3rd and 4th year Mechanical engineering modules, undergo placements in schools with the Brilliant Club and running the Dynamos cricket program for sixty 8-11 year olds for my local club. I find it immensely gratifying to equip people with the tools to think for themselves. (5) Meet fantastic people – from professors to undergrads, from close colleagues to chance meetings there are innumerable opportunities to have interesting conversations with interesting people. I’m grateful to have met so many of the kindest and compassionate people along the way as well. PhD’s are winding roads and not straight paths. However, I wouldn’t have it any other way because I’m extremely fortunate to be able to take everything I’ve learned onwards to my next challenge. Congratulations on making it this far!
