At Zetron, I was involved with early development on the MT-5 project - a mountaintop radio repeater system, where I used C in an embedded Linux environment to process radio traffic. As the project was early in its lifecycle, I was able to be involved in many different aspects of the product's requirements - for instance, using a separate processor running freeRTOS to encode / decode and route P25 radio traffic, implementing a basic web server in C (using Mongoose), and using React to create a simple UI for user configurable settings.One of my major contributions to the project was spearheading our authentication system for the web interface. I investigated several options, and eventually pitched JSON Web Tokens to the team as a solution. After receiving positive feedback, I successfully implemented JWT authentication on our backend and integrated the new functionality into our frontend UI.

At ACD Systems, I had the pleasure of helping maintain the company's network & server-side infrastructure. This comprised many tasks, such as setting up individual virtual machines, managing hypervisor environments like VMWare's vSphere, and troubleshooting our internal systems. I was also involved with our AWS presence.One issue our company faced was frequent power outages which posed a risk to our servers. My main project for the term was to help design and deploy several Raspberry Pi units to monitor our server room’s power usage and gracefully handle power outages. With these units deployed, blackouts and brownouts were able to be detected & dealt with as fast as possible.
