CurrentA committed and experienced advocate, Nick Barraclough is a barrister who specialises in criminal law and is a member of the Chambers of William Clegg QC, one of London’s leading criminal barristers' chambers. Nick Barraclough’s practice is wide ranging and extensive. He is a criminal lawyer with expertise in serious fraud and white collar crime, and has appeared in numerous murder trials. He is regularly instructed in cases involving rape and serious sexual allegations, all forms of serious organised crime, money laundering, drugs cases and serious offences against the person. He also undertakes advisory and review work, asset forfeiture and restraint, and disciplinary and regulatory work. He is increasingly sought to lead in serious cases, and has proved his ability to manage voluminous and complex cases which require a strategic overview.Although Nick is usually instructed by the defence, he is a Grade 4 and Specialist Rape prosecutor. He was instructed pre-charge in the case of the rogue surgeon Ian Paterson who was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment. Nick has spent 2018 representing the first defendant in a complex fraud case at Southwark Crown Court; the trial spanned 9 months.
