I am the director of West Scott Architects, a long-established practice specialising in conservation architecture. My roots in the historic city of Edinburgh developed my interest in built heritage and my approach is grounded in a desire to protect and enhance the special qualities of buildings through careful conservation and sensitive adaptation.After graduating from Cambridge University, I spent 10 years at Studio Partington working on a wide range of projects embracing housing, sustainability, and urban design. My long-standing interest in building conservation brought me to WSA in 2010, where I became sole director in 2023. Recent projects include a five-year programme to refurbish a spectacular listed country house in Surrey and conservation repairs at St Matthew’s Church, Surbiton. Currently, I am involved in the conservation of funerary architecture and mausolea for Friends of Highgate Cemetery Trust, in collaboration with Hopkins Architects.An accredited conservation architect, I am also an approved quinquennial inspector responsible for several listed churches in the dioceses of London and Southwark.
