I am currently in charge of the writing of the Commonwealth of Kentucky's hazard mitigation plan: To be eligible for funding from FEMA for hazard mitigation projects, a state must submit a hazard mitigation plan for all of its jurisdictions. Only after the state (the Commonwealth) submits a plan can the localities submit plans to be individually eligible for FEMA funding of mitigation projects. Local governments must also write a plan that will be the umbrella for all projects for which they request money from FEMA. I help write and edit these plans, procure data and run analyses for these plans, and ensure compliance with FEMA's expectations for plans.Local governments submit grants for monies from FEMA to be used for mitigating hazards. As a project manager, I will ensure compliance with FEMA regarding these grants. I will, then, be planning budgets, performing cost-benefit analyses, and, overall, evaluating projects once approved.

Each semester, taught two classes (approx. 50 students) in Introduction to Political Science under the tutelage of various Political Science faculty. Developed curriculum and teaching strategies for American and Georgia political history and theory; successfully streamlined and presented complex material to wide variety of audiences; led class discussions; administered and graded examinations.

Doctoral responsibilities are treated as a career position. Independently, developed, designed, and initiated research projects. Generated and established theories and /or adapted previous theories to accommodate research. Collected and analyzed data. Designed empirical models. Wrote and presented professional papers based on completed research.

Proposed strategies for project implementation, analyzed data, and generated summary reports on a project for which the CDC had hired the University of Georgia and Dr. Laurence J. O'Toole. Worked in teams and maintained group cohesion. Personally designed the system by which the team organized and shared its products. The project's goal was to improve the implementation of Primary Stroke Centers throughout the country.

Office of Hazardous Materials Safety within the Martin School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Kentucky: Conducted Cost-Benefit analyses and wrote and edited grants for local governments applying for disaster relief or prevention funds. The majority of grant applications directed to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Analyzed and evaluated budgets of cities and provided support for structuring budgets to meet the needs for cities' hazard mitigation initiatives. Updated the filing and storage system of the office.

Constructed a "Workforce Analysis Model" that would aid in future staffing levels. Researched , proposed using, and taught myself hedonic pricing models in order to construct the model. Analyzed data and collected new data. The model involved distinguishing, estimating, and monetizing the values of the newly-delineated "work processes" that an employee in the Office of Grants Management performs throughout the workday. A significant part of the value estimation involved determining how much time is necessary for an employee to complete each "work process." Summarized and presented process and results to coworkers.

Was a substitute teacher in a unique situation that required permanency in one classroom due to that class teacher's prolonged absence. Along with teaching/summarizing and presenting complex material, initiated, researched and developed curriculum and performed school standardized testing tasks. Students were referred via the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Researched and demonstrated mastery of topics pertinent to the representative. Briefed the representative on these topics. Wrote speeches; scheduled appointments; responded to constituents; attended and summarized committee meetings.
