As the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of an Industry Superannuation Fund, I was responsible for the full suite of activity within a profit-for-members superannuation fund including the financial management, risk management, internal and external audit, human resource management, management of an outsourced ICT function and stakeholder management of the fund. I worked directly with the Trustee Board and the CEO, to ensure that the Fund was managed efficiently and could achieve its strategic, operational, financial and investment objectives. I was responsible for accounting & business operations functions including the preparation of financial statements, taxation, payroll, treasury and procurement on a daily basis. I had oversight of the accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions. As a leader during a period of significant change, achievements included the implementation of a fee cap on admin expenses for high-balance members, project management of a merger with a larger fund ensuring member's best financial interests were maintained, project management of an admin transition and, implementation and maintenance of a best practice risk management framework. Further business and process improvements were identified in the period that allowed for the implementation of an effective ICT strategy and member outcome frameworks for the fund.

As a management consultant I was embedded within CASG in the Department of Defence. I provided commercial, strategic and risk management advice and was responsible for the management of complex contracts with Defence industry partners. I managed export controls and the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) for the SEA 5000 project.

As the Manager Group Finance, I led a team of over 30 management, project and system accountants and business analysts at a Corporate Commonwealth Entity for almost 9 years. The Branch was responsible for business partnering, management accounting, organisation and business group forecasts and budgeting, financial modelling and business / commercial support to the organisation. In this time I was involved in cross-functional teams responsible for establishing and then implementing an overall industrial strategy and was a member of negotiating teams for the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Enterprise Agreements. I led a small project team to proactively manage the risk associated with the historical use of fluoro surfactants (PFOS & PFOA). Key achievements relate to the implementation of a management accounting transformation including the implementation of improvements in management and project accounting methodologies through the full cost capture of the Business’ two service lines and the development of financial and project dashboards and Executive reporting in SAP BW and Business Objects.

I provided leadership to a team with responsibility for the financial management of the Australian Government's unfunded superannuation liabilities. Prior to this role, I was the Finance Manager for Budget Group and the Financial Management Group. In these roles I had accountability for the management of the administered unfunded superannuation liability estimates for Portfolio Budget Statements, Additional Estimates, MYEFO and the Final Budget Outcome. This included negotiation and liaison with the AAU’s in budget group and preparation of budgets at a whole of Government level. I Managed the Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Scheme (PCSS) and was involved in modelling to support the closure of defined benefit schemes and the establishment of the Future Fund and the Future Fund management agency. As the Finance Manager of Budget Group and the Finance Manager of the Financial Management Group, I was an embedded business partner with responsibility for the Groups management accounting functions including preparation of budget estimates and submissions, forecasting, new policy costings and business planning.

A commercial accountant and Systems accountant reporting directly to the CFO of a large multi-national company listed on the London Stock Exchange with over $1 billion Pounds per annum in revenue.

As a chartered accountant and business analyst, I was responsible for both business service and audit roles including income tax, FBT returns and business advise.
