As Product Manager, he expanded the catalog from 10,000 to over 45,000 products, which overall increased multi-million dollar sales to the federal agencies throughout the world. Mr. Whitaker improved the business process by developing an integrated database that allowed for: tracking of price changes, simplifying product management, completing comparative analysis between distributors pricing, and automating report generation for both internal and external operations. In addition, Mr. Whitaker's role also acted as a negotiator with the GSA regulatory agency to develop new tracking methods to help address challenges facing the customer and federal agencies.

Natural Resource Damage Assessment: Mr. Whitaker provided support to the technical working group with responsibilities including: data verification, database management (SQL), task coordination, QA/QC of large data-sets, and working in collaboration with professional colleagues across the West Coast.Emergency Response: Project Scientist apart of subsurface oil monitoring along the Louisiana coastline. His responsibilities included: leading sampling teams to ensure that study objectives follow protocols, training staff, managing staff and client image in a tense social-political climate, coordinating with subcontractors, presenting findings and technical reports, and attending inter-agency meetings.

Mr. Whitaker’s experience at Cosmopolitan Engineering Group included working on various engineering and environmental study projects for governmental agencies and private clients to comply with state and federal regulations related to proposed and existing facilities/projects. His experience included initiating marketing pursuits to help win new projects and seeing the completion of projects from the beginning to the end. Some of the tasks included: developing scopes and budgets, cost estimates, overseeing water and wastewater studies, hydrodynamic modeling, QA/QC of laboratory methods, data reduction and analysis, and preparing technical reports. Upon completion of the technical reports and analyses, his responsibilities included responding to comments and questions from project managers, public agencies, regulators, and/or private clients.

For his Master Thesis, Mr. Whitaker coordinated with The Nature Conservancy, local land owners, and University professionals to conduct bioassessments using aquatic macroinvertebrates on the Silver Creek Preserve (on sites deemed important to the watershed’s fisheries). Silver Creek is not only important ecologically, but also for the recreational endeavors of Silver Creek visitors, which infuse millions into the region each year. The major highlights accomplished in the research include: • Developed alternative methodologies for sampling and analysis • Calculated biometrics of the collected aquatic assemblages• Determined ecological health ratings (indexes) on critical sites to the watershed• Addressed weaknesses in existing ecological health classification system and recommended solutions

Throughout his undergraduate education, Mr. Whitaker worked for multiple university professionals that consisted of a variety of laboratory and field work tasks. The overall emphasis on the procedures and analyses used was precision and attention to details.
