Mortgages found me. I was born and raised in Victoria BC. My father was constantly renovating houses and my mother worked in a bank specializing in mortgages from before I was born. Construction, finance, debt and real estate were common topics of conversation in our house from a young age. At UVIC I planned to be a research chemist, until I realized how much I disliked spending all my time in the lab. Towards the end of my program, I added on a math minor, enjoying most financial math. I started working at a big company doing risk weighted financial calculations, until I realized that I like to work hard, but that I was also a lousy employee. Self employment was the way for me!At that time in 2004 I got my mortgage brokers license, and since then there has been no looking back. I joined the family business with my mother, Val, and for nearly 20 years have taken pride in offering honest, professional mortgage advice to people from all walks of life. I love the analytical number crunching, finding unique and creative solutions and educating people to be able to make the best decisions for themselves. I am proud to say that I am an Excel nerd / spreadsheet ninja - making all my mortgage qualification calculations from scratch rather than using software. I love to see how the numbers dance!Outside of the office, life is pretty full. I have a busy house with my wife Adriana and three teenagers, as well as our two large dogs and three cats! I love travelling, learning, investing and good food. Recently I have completed the restoration (with a lot of help) of a 1976 Toyota FJ45 Land Cruiser. Travel highlights include Bulgaria, Greece, Cook Islands, Portugal, Belgium, Holland, New York, Mexico, Hawaii. I love experiencing the culture and local experience as much as I can. A serial entrepreneur, I help run a small private lending company specializing in unique short term solutions such as deposit financing and CRA arrears loans. I am an active and MLS award winning real estate agent. I am a multi-family residential real estate investor and can help consult for people who want to buy their own apartment building.
