I am an accomplished senior leader and general insurance professional with a diverse career spanning more than 25 years across a range of specialist insurance and re-insurance companies and functions, including finance, actuarial, risk and underwriting. The breadth of my experience gives me a valuable cross-functional insight which ensures the teams I lead are effective in supporting wider business goals. As a leader I have a track record of developing new capabilities, performance improvement, and building successful teams that improve efficiency, quality and timeliness of data to support underwriting and portfolio decision making. I have transformed performance through process improvement, introduction of new technologies, appropriate use of outsourcing, individual development, and by successfully developing internal and external stakeholder relationships.I have led internationally dispersed teams and projects delivering business planning, pricing and reserving, capital modelling, catastrophe risk modelling and aggregation, and the management of risk appetites. In particular I am very experienced in managing and using stochastic modelling for portfolio management, (re)insurance pricing, and corporate risk management. I have a deep understanding of catastrophe risk modelling including the strengths and weaknesses of many of the commercial vendor models. I have also regularly presented at industry conferences and participated as a panelist on subjects ranging from model validation and adjustments to understanding cyber risk.
