"We all have two lives, the second starts when we realise we only have one" - ConfuciusI spent the first half of mine in the creative, comms and tech industries, in brand building, business innovation, events, engineering and digital media.Anywhere that let me dream big and make it happen.Creativity, tech and people underpinned all that and now I've broadened out to advocate for their power to inspire children, create careers and engage communities. How #ARTCONNECTSI'm a keynote speaker, aithor, collaborator and one of the UK's most innovative business live streamers - no death by zoom in events facilitated from green screen studio - whether on a cardboard Glasto pyramid stage or a jpeg of the No 10 press briefing room!Above all I'm a Connector. I help Connect our Kids with their Art and Communities with their Schools. I have tons of experience across marketing services from advertising and direct to branding, events, insight and innovation drawing on over 30 years digital experience.I've launched, run and sold my own digitally focused agencies and worked for the world's biggest networks as well as helping raise profile of, and putting others, on the map while driving pipeline/incremental revenue.Well known across the country in business, government, communities - with opinion formers, clients, agencies, press, intermediaries and key trade bodies across education, marketing and culture.Recently added a number of philanthropic/non exec roles to the mix which has only made everything even more interesting and joined upSee www.steamco.org.uk and www.nickcorston.comInterested in consultancy projects and other collaborations, where creativity, tech and people are common denominators. Also offering a range of speaking and training/engagement workshops across communications, innovation, creativity, tech and marketing. See www.nickcorston.comBoth The Guardian newspaper and Wired magazine have said I'm a man on a mission": http://bit.ly/gdnnickc and http://bit.ly/wirednickc - which was nice and I was included in Hot Topic's Global Top 100 list of Edtech leaders: http://bit.ly/edtech100nickcBut what has made it all worthwhile, beyond thank you's from parents and teachers, was being nominated for a TED Fellowship by two of the best well known TED speakers - Sir Ken Robinson and Prof Sugata MitraFollow me if you can keep up @nickcorston @st3amcoThis film best sums up my most recent antics: http://bit.ly/waartists

Dad, Co-Founder And Wannabe CeoSteam Co. Jun 2011 - PresentLondonAfter seeing Sir Ken Robinson's No 1 TED talk on how the education system can teach creativity out of children I co-founded a non-profit initiative to give them a school day like no other by inspiring them with creativity across the STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering ARTS, and Maths). We've run it for ten years now and been in Wired, BBC documentaries, Brazilian newspapers, global news bulletins on Al Jazeerah and was even invited to a launch event at the United Nations in New York. No 1 TED Talker, Sir Ken Robinson spoke at our Liverpool launch event and even nominated me for a TED Fellowship in 2017. Since then we've collaborated with global gurus like $1m TED prize winner Prof Sugata Mitra, ruckusmaker Seth Godin and all sorts of #CreativeCarers - people and organisations who CARE, about Children, Creativity and All Or Futures. We're now recruiting and working with UK creative ambassadors as 'Inspirators' and had support from a range of UK companies like BT, Google, Barclays, National Grid and Nissan as well as organisations like the RSA, Nesta and BITC.Snappy film here: http://bit.ly/wereallartistsSee www.steamco.org.ukGuardian article: http://bit.ly/gdnnickcWired article: http://bit.ly/scowired14 -

An innovative online system has been developed and launched in the UK and proven in trials in UK schools to improve reading levels by 9.7 months after just 20 hours. Business Development ConsultantThe Team Brand Communications Limited Jun 2013 - Jun 2014LondonThe Team has a fantastic background as one of the UK's most effective brand and communications agencies, connecting brands and businesses as diverse as BP, RBS, Sony, ASOS and CISCO with their employee and customer audiences. They've done some stunning digital experience design work too, especially around user centred design driven responsive web and social intranets so I've helped them fly that flag with both existing clients and helped win new, retained business from clients like English Heritage, OFGEM, Balfour Beatty and Avanade. We were delighted to win a coveted place on the BBC Digital roster. With 30 years' under their belts as brand and communications specialists it wasn't hard to find their digital hot buttons as there's a trend now for businesses to work with agencies that get brands and experience design to handle that bit and to leave the build to tech partners. -
Business Development DirectorEhs 4D Group Jun 2011 - Dec 2012LondonResponsible for activity to drive incremental business from new and existing clients across this top data and digitally driven relationship marketing agency group that is in the business of making connections simple.Delighted to see the agency win numerous awards and be shortlisted for agency of the year as well as deliver a number of high profile innovative creative technology projects taking in 3D printing, NFC mobile apps and Raspberry Pi hacking.Pitch wins in this time brought in over £5m in new business across E.ON, Tesco, Subway, Nestle, Whitbread, Pets at Home, Unilever and the GLA.Following a global group rebranding and restructuring exercise and reallocation of business development responsibility across a new tier of managing partners and external lead generation agency with junior internal support, I took redundancy to pursue other opportunities.

Managing DirectorSense Worldwide Jun 2008 - Apr 2011Repositioned this previously well kept secret as creative strategic consultants and introduced the concept of Master Planning for Brands to the marketplace. This uses a combination of insight, innovation and strategy to co-create blue prints for brands around which all internal and external stakeholders can align. We set out to do the right thing by understanding people - or, in other words, co-creating disruptive brand and business strategies for global clients like Diageo, Nike, Vodafone, Johnson & Johnson and Discovery Channel with the Sense Network - a 2,000+ strong global community of articulate, creative thinkers and doers. In my time as MD I helped put Sense Worldwide on the map, seeing them short listed for the prestigious Marketing magazine Agency of the Year award three times in a row, winning it once. We doubled turnover and won significant new business through initiatives I put in place, winning work from clients like Vodafone, TUI, Heinz, Barclays, Pfizer, NESTA, etc. -

Marketing BlokeAuthorware / Macromedia Feb 1991 - Apr 1991Bracknell, Berks ,UkConsultancy work as the third European employee of Authorware Europe through the merger with Macromind to ultimately become Macromedia. This was the wild frontier and early formative days of what became known as 'digital media'. Three of us shared a laptop, actually on our lap, as we only had 2 desks.Great fun meeting and working with amazing visionary people (most early early Apple bods) and attending international trade shows, dealer events and selling beta software on a pile of floppy discs.Despite all the fun I was quickly and easily convinced to start my own reseller/development consultancy which would help spearhead Macromedia into the UK market.
-
Account ManagerSystems Interactive Feb 1989 - Feb 1991Business Development Manager with this pioneering agency that specialised in what was then called computer based training and involved numerous trips back and forth to the car to get the kit required to demonstrate our work to prospective clients.Won new business from companies as diverse as The RAF, Trust House Forte and Marks and Spencer. A particular highlight and catalyst for my future career in digital was selling a major project to Argos which was one of the first UK wide deployments of multimedia capable PC's, to which we had to add soundcards and CD ROM drives to make them sing (at all). Then one day when I was demonstrating an early version of Authorware on a beta version of Windows 3, I saw my first Mac, doing multimedia out of the box. Resigned and joined a startup team to help launch Macromedia in the UK.
