Assisted with successfully integrating JBR Environmental Consultants’ (JBR) GIS system into Stantec’s GIS system. Including the modification of a custom python tool designed to standardize GIS file structure and map templates. This python script was presented at the ESRI User Conference in July 2014. Worked on large scale project to model ground water contamination for private wells across the lower 48 states. Created Python script to model roughly 5,000 aquifer boundaries from a point dataset consisting of 273,000 of well locations.Utilized network analyst extension to calculate travel times/distances for cancer patients to nearest treatment facility. Patients were located in 26 different states and due to limitations of ArcGIS software, ModelBuilder was used to develop a workaround.Created composite address locators using local and census data; used to geocode large datasets.Responded to GIS/mapping requests in support of a water quality analysis project conducted in rural India.Used GIS skills to create visual aids for an introductory GIS methods presentation.Researched, obtained, and digitized via classification methods a map of radon gas concentrations.Joined non-spatial housing data to census blocks and overlaid the radon gas map to predict areas of highest risk.

- Using Python, created a data management tool with a Graphic User Interface to create a uniform data structure (folder, map templates, and geodatabases) for each project. This project setup script was presented to 100 plus individuals at the Salt Lake User Group meeting on February 12, 2014. Presentation and Python script are available here: http://www.slug-gis.info/digist-1/02-12-2014- Created over 20 custom geoprocessing and administrative tools using Python, complete with Graphic User Interface and help documentation.- Expanded JBR service line with photorealistic simulations by utilizing a combination of three dimensional GIS software and Adobe Photoshop.- Created maps and figures that visually and statistically support reports and documents, including Environmental Impact Statements.- Trained staff members in various GIS concepts and shortcuts, including advanced editing, field calculator techniques, and Python scripting.- Developed and implemented a method to greatly expedite areal calculations using pivot tables in Microsoft Excel.- Wrote help documentation with step by step directions for GIS processes.- Utilized GIS to calculate volumes of containment for multiple dam scenarios to help determine the best site location.- Performed a viewshed analysis to determine the number of transmission line poles visible along a scenic stretch of highway. - Created a map from police video footage to illustrate the positions of vehicles involved in a 20+ car traffic accident. Map was intended for evidentiary purposes in litigation.

• Developed and taught both basic and advanced GPS courses to instruct recreational users in proper use of GPS devices, maps, and relative information, including datums, coordinate systems, & limitations.• Received REI’s Anderson Award (REI’s version of employee of the year) in recognition of effort put into GPS courses and overall good work ethics.

• Engineered an alternative solution using ModelBuilder to overcome limitations with the default ESRI Network Analyst service area tool. Presented problem and solution to 120 people at a Salt Lake GIS User Group meeting on May 11, 2011. Also, used my model to create several large format maps of Salt Lake County fire response times. Presentation is viewable here: http://www.slug-gis.info/digist-1/05-11-2011• Estimated the population of residents living within geographic areas of interest (County islands & service area boundaries) for the Sandy Fire Department.• Applied geocoding and geoprocessing tools to generate a list of business within walking distance of a bus route for a blind resident of Sandy.• Reviewed and updated documentation on specified Sandy City GIS processes, such as the use of a Python script, to import and append parcel data.• Created maps using good cartographic design and practices.• Updated existing spatial data such as municipal boundaries.• Implemented GIS data and aerial photos to verify/append a list of tall buildings for the Sandy Fire Department.
